Carolyn has lived in London since 1989. Alongside ‘ticking over’ as a textile maker, tutor, and social media manager, she has run maker markets under the banner of E17 Designers, for the last fourteen years. E17 Designers is a group of artists, makers and designers, based in the north east London. Carolyn has set up many of these successful markets, with between 25 – 30 makers taking part at each event, manages the membership website of over 100 makers, and all of the social media which has built a quality organic following of 7.5k on twitter and over 4k on Instagram. Since 2006, Carolyn has partnered with the Vestry House Museum, William Morris Gallery, The Barbican, Create (for the Walthamstow Garden Party) and set up markets in many local venues across Waltham Forest.
Carolyn has been a trustee at the Blackhorse Workshops Maker Space Blackhorse Workshop (Maker Space, design by Assemble, London, 2014) building communities for emerging makers and the public to enjoy, and has taught adults and children for Waltham Forest Adult Learning Centre (mainly textile craft skills) and at the William Morris Gallery.
